A day after the central government reduced excise duty on fuel, several states have decided to reduce VAT (value-added tax) on petrol and diesel in a big relief to consumers. Gujarat and Sikkim governments have reduced VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 7 per liter. The Haryana government also announced reduction in VAT on fuel on Thursday. Due to which petrol and diesel became cheaper by Rs 12 per liter on the special occasion of Diwali in the BJP-JJP ruled state. Odisha has also cut petrol, diesel prices by Rs 3 per liter.
10 states announced cuts
The Karnataka government has announced a reduction of Rs 7 in the prices of petrol and diesel. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that petrol will now cost around Rs 95.90 per liter and diesel Rs 81.5 per liter and the rates of change in prices will be applicable on Thursday evening. Till this morning, the price of petrol and diesel in Bengaluru remains at Rs 107.64 and Rs 92.03 respectively. A total of 10 states have announced cuts, including Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday said that the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol in the state will be reduced by Rs 2 per liter.

Tripura Chief Minister tweeted the information
At the same time, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb also gave information about this by tweeting. He wrote- Led the decision of the Central Government to reduce the excise duty on petrol and diesel under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. The Tripura government has also decided to reduce the cost of petrol and diesel by Rs 7 from tomorrow. On the other hand, Haryana has also announced reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel today. Due to which petrol and diesel became cheaper by Rs 12 per liter in the state. Let us tell you that yesterday itself the government had cut 5 and 7 rupees on petrol and diesel.
