Today was not a good day for Nifty and it closed near the lowest level of the day. After starting with volatility, Nifty started recovering from the day’s lows but to no avail. It declined significantly in the afternoon session and reached its lowest level of the day since 18087. In the end, it closed at 18113 points, down 194 points or 1.07 percent. The Sensex also fell heavily by 571 points. Even the broader market could not escape it. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap closed down 2.06% and 2.45%, respectively. However, India VIX gained over 6%.
Nifty Bank closed flat but all other sectoral indices fell around 1%. Nifty Auto, Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty fell over 2%. However, Axis Bank remained strong and despite poor sentiment, it gained around 1.78%. Overall, it was a bad day for the index but in the end some stocks supported the market. These stocks were able to bounce back from their day’s lows and buyers showed interest in them.
