‘2018: Everyone is a Hero’ gets entry in Oscars 2024
On Wednesday, the Film Federation of India sent Malayalam-language survival drama film ‘2018: Everyone is a Hero’ based on Kerala floods as the official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at Oscars 2024. According to media reports, this was announced by Film Federation of India President and film producer Girish Kasaravalli during a press conference. According to reports, he said that the 16-member selection committee had earlier also considered Bollywood films like ‘The Kerala Story’, ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’ and ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’.
Malayalam film ‘2018: Everyone is a Hero’ is directed by Jude Anthony Joseph. Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali and Vineet Srinivasan were seen in lead roles in this film. The film proved to be a huge hit at the box office.
This Bollywood film won the Best International Feature Film award
For your information, let us tell you that till now only one Indian film has won the Oscar’s Best International Feature Film award and that is the film ‘Lagaan’ released in 2002. After this film, two Indian films were able to make their place in the top 5 films in the Best International Feature Film category of Oscar. This includes the film ‘Mother India’ released in 1957 and the film ‘Salaam Bombay’ released in 1988.
