About Harsil Valley
It is said that at this place Lord Vishnu had taken the form of green and to reduce the strong effect of Bhagirathi and Jaldhari, Lord Vishnu had taken the form of stone at this place, so that their heavy flow could be reduced. Initially the name of this place was Harishila, but later an English officer named this place as Harsil. Harsil was a valley, due to which it later came to be known as Harsil Valley.

ground floor
Dharali, located just 6 km from Harsil Valley, is known for its apple orchards. Surrounded by pine trees, this place is situated on the banks of river Ganga. The Shiva temple at Dharali is the main attraction there.
Mukhwas Village

Known as the home of Goddess Ganga, this village is situated just 1 km from Harsil Valley. The region receives heavy rainfall during winters. During this time it is temporarily closed due to heavy rains, during which devotees worship the village as a gate to Gangotri.
About Kedar Tal

Dodital Lake

The Dodital trek is one of the most picturesque treks in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. How to Reach Harsil

To go by air you have to reach the airport Jolly Grant Airport. You can also take a local taxi from here. By going to Rishikesh railway station by train, you can also reach Harsil by local bus or taxi. It is a different fun to visit here in the months of February and March.
Note: Due to the remoteness of the valley, you will not get much to eat here, for eating you can eat sitting at the roadside dhaba. But you will find many home stays to stay at this place.
