After this, I went to my father’s hometown Gandhidham in December 2020 with Disha’s parents. After three months I was back in Mumbai. We wanted to stay away from the noise of his demise. People were writing anything about Disha without thinking and showing anything on TV. He had no idea what effect it would have on Disha and my family. How will it affect me?
How did Disha Salian reach Malad from Dadar?
A year after Disha Salian’s death, the Mumbai Police closed the case as a suicide. But Rohan tells about what happened that night – Disha was a very sensitive person. During that time she was under stress about work. His two deals also failed. He loved animals. And I remember the news of a pregnant elephant in Kerala dying after eating pineapple stuffed with firecrackers made her condition worse. It was difficult to calm him down. We were living in Dadar with both the family. On June 4, I told him that let’s go to Malad’s apartment. I said this to him thinking that maybe this would change his mood. While we were planning to shift there after marriage. Four of our friends also came to cheer him up. For two or three days we kept drinking. Disha mixed something in her drinks as it would have made her condition worse.
What happened before Disha Salian’s suicide?
Rohan further revealed that the last call to Disha was from her school friend from London. Everything happened in five minutes. I took the phone from Disha and talked to that friend. Disha then went to the master bedroom. After a few minutes I knocked on the door but he did not respond. The room was not closed at that time. When I opened the door, I saw that alcohol was spread all over the bed. I thought she must be changing her clothes. Will come back later.

Rohan Rai further told that after some time when Disha did not return, I and a friend knocked on the door again. But didn’t get the answer. Then I went to the bathroom. She was not there either. We looked for her all over the flat but could not find her. We again went to the master bedroom where we checked the wardrobe etc. During this we started getting worried. Then I noticed that the window of the room was open. I looked down from there and found that his pajama was visible on the ground. I immediately called my friend and asked – what is this? Then I was not ready to accept this. I slapped myself too many times. It was like a bad dream.
After Disha, Rohan also wanted to commit suicide
Then I stood on the parapet thinking that I would also jump. My friends pulled me back. In a hurry, the police also reached. They asked me to take off my clothes to check my body for signs of a fight and also searched my house. Some of our friends took Disha to the hospital. The first two hospitals refused entry but the third hospital admitted him and later declared him brought dead.
Rohan Rai and Disha Salian were in relation for 7 years
It has been two years since this incident, but whether he has recovered from this grief or not, Rohan says – I started having frequent anxiety attacks. Me and Disha were together for almost 7 years. We were staying at his parents’ house in Dadar. It was also stopped in the year 2018. It was difficult for me to sleep after he left. But it was also hard to wake up because everything felt like a bad dream. People started telling me that I should make a career in something else. Because a lot was being said on social media. Then a friend reminded that it was not only my dream to become an actor, Disha also wanted to see him. It was hard for me to believe that she is no more. Even after a year, I was not able to talk about it. But now I realize that I have to accept it.
Rohan Rai was getting abused on social media
On how he came out of all this after facing a lot from the mainstream media and social media side, Rohan says – it was all very scary. I got thousands of lewd and threatening messages. Even abuses were given. Many such messages were sent to my friends too, seeing that they used to cry. I was starting to feel helpless. I deactivated all my social media handles in September 2020. I then returned to everyone in May 2021. After that the name of Sooraj Pancholi also started floating. It was said that Disha was about to become the mother of their child. Some photos of the actor also started going viral, in which he was surrounded by some girls. People started claiming that there is a direction in it. While this was not true. All this was happening when we were paying tribute to Disha. I suffered a lot even though I was not at fault.
Rohan Rai’s career loss
Rohan told that Disha used to work for the agency. Sushant Singh Rajput was also one of those clients. He never managed the actor as a director but has definitely worked on two of his ad films. Disha had many clients of her own in the agency, whom she used to deal with. Rohan told how it affected his career after all this happened. According to him, earlier he used to do 40 advertisements in a year. Whereas in the last two years, he has done only 12 commercials and one film. Many projects of OTT platforms had also gone out of their hands. I was also dropped from the film, after which I was broke. Cried a lot too.
Rohan is taking care of Disha’s parents
Rohan told that all the producers used to tell me that if I get caught in any legal trouble, I will have to give an undertaking in writing. After that I took a break from acting for a year. Worked on myself. Did some campaigns and started script writing. Apart from this, I started working with Animal Welfare Trust along with Disha’s mother. Rohan told that he is living with Disha’s parents. taking care of them. He is currently living in the Malad flat where he was supposed to live with Disha. After going to Dadar, he keeps taking care of Disha’s parents.
Rohan Rai is dating Sheen Das
He told that he is now dating TV actress Sheen Das. Both met in the year 2017-18. On the TV set of Piya Albela. They met again in October, 2021. Then their talks started. Sheen also had an interest in animal welfare. When Rohan told Sheen about Disha’s dream project, he expressed his desire to join her. Then both started working together. Their friendship progressed like this and now both share a close and good bond.
