The year 2021 has proved to be the best of Indian sports so far. India has won a gold medal in track and field for the first time in the 100-year history of the Olympics. Even so, in the last decade, India has made remarkable progress in terms of sports. Indian players have raised their India flag in many international competitions and world championships. One of these talented Indian players is also the name of Wushu player Pawan Gupta. Pawan, who has won bronze medal in men’s 70 kg category in Wushu competition at the 2012 8th Asian Wushu Championship and 2014 National Games, is currently preparing for the Asian Games to be held in China in July 2022. It is being said that she is in excellent form at present and she is expected to bring medals for the country.
Wushu player Pawan Gupta has earned medals for India in many international competitions, including silver medal in Asian Sanda Championship held in Singapore in 2017, Bronze medal in International Wushu Championship 2017, International Wushu Sanda tournament organized in China by Shanghai Cooperation in 2018. Bronze medal and Silver medal in 2019 Batumi Sanda Cup held in Georgia.
Wushu is a martial art form originally from China which is not very popular in India, yet many athletes are doing well in this sport. At present, many Wushu players like Pooja Kadian, Praveen Kumar, Poonam Khatri, Sandhyarani Devi, M Bimoljit Singh, Narendra Grewal, Y Santhoi Devi have performed well and brought many gold, silver and bronze medals to the nation. Pawan Gupta, who has brought silver and bronze for the country in many international competitions, also falls in the same category of athletes. He has been associated with this game for a long time. Born on June 12, 1993, in Sultanpur village of Kushinagar district of UP, in a middle class family, Pawan is working as a Junior Warrant Officer in the Indian Air Force. He was selected in the Indian Air Force in 2014 by sports quota.

Recently, during a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, he told, “My dream is to win gold medal in World Championship, at this time I am preparing for both Asian Games and World Championship. It is every sportsperson’s dream to make the country proud, mine is too.” Pawan is very impressed with the historic victory of Neeraj Chopra, who was recently in the Indian Army, in the Olympic Games. They say, “The biggest lesson we get in the army is that the country is paramount. ”
By making his name proud in Wushu, Pawan wants to encourage the youth of the country to adopt and learn this sport. Along with improving their game, they are training many other young players in this game. He told the Bhaskar correspondent that he wants to establish a good training academy to take this game forward in future, where talented children and young players from an early age will be able to hone their talent under the supervision of international level coaches. Currently they are working hard for two big competitions, the performance of the country’s players in the Olympic Games has boosted their morale immensely.
