Earlier, left-arm pacer Obed McCoy took 6 for 17 in his four overs, as India were bowled out for 138 in 19.4 overs in the second T20I against West Indies on Monday. The match started with a delay of three hours due to the late arrival of Team Kit. After being invited to bat first, the Indian team could never regain the momentum throughout the innings.
Captain Rohit Sharma (nil) was dismissed on the first ball of the match. The Indian batsmen had a hard time grasping the pace and bounce of the pitch at Warner Park here and McCoy made a career-best use of his variety. The Indian batsmen had no answer for McCoy’s extra bounce.
Opening the innings in the second consecutive match, Suryakumar Yadav (11) hit a six over the covers against McCoy, but only after that the wicketkeeper’s catch against this bowler returned to the pavilion. Rishabh Pant looked impressive during his innings and also hit a big six at deep square leg against McCoy. He hit the second six of his innings against Odeon Smith but left-arm spinner Akil Hossain ended his 12-ball 24.
All-rounders Hardik Pandya (31 in 31 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (27 in 30 balls) then tried to improve the innings but the run-rate fell short during the 43-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Holder broke this partnership by dismissing Hardik. McCoy then broke India’s hopes of a big score by dismissing Jadeja and Dinesh Karthik (07) in his second spell. India lost the last four wickets within 11 runs. Holder took two wickets for 23 runs.
