Nagpur: The second match of the T20 series will be played between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Friday. The threat of rain is looming over this match. It has been raining continuously in Nagpur since last few days. Rain has also been predicted on match day i.e. Friday. Tickets for the match at the 45,000-capacity stadium have already been sold out. If the match is not played due to rain, then the spectators will have to pay the ticket money back.
On Wednesday, both the teams reached Nagpur from Mohali for the match. It rained intermittently after evening. It rained on Thursday morning. Even after this, the sky remained cloudy continuously. Morning rain forced both Australia and India to cancel their scheduled practice sessions in the afternoon and evening. The players could not go to the stadium after attending the gym session of the team hotel.
The groundsmen removed the covers around noon to conduct a check but had to re-cover immediately due to the threat of drizzle. According to officials, they are running Super Supper and ensuring that there is no water logging. Hoping that there will be no more rain on Friday. Nagpur is hosting its first international match in three years and fans bought tickets online within minutes.
Yet the telephone rings at the city’s VCA’s OID Stadium and people are still asking if tickets are available offline. The stadium is more than 20 km away from the city and the VCA is facing a lot of issues with regard to providing parking space for the spectators who take their own vehicles.
