WI vs SA: West Indies’ fortunes changed as captain changed, beat South Africa by 48 runs, Shai Hope shines in victory

East London: West Indies beat South Africa by 48 runs in the second ODI due to the excellent performance of the bowlers after Shai Hope’s strong century innings. Batting first in the match, the West Indies team scored 335 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. In response, the South African team could only score 287 runs in 41.4 overs. In the match, Shai Hope played a brilliant century innings of 128 runs off 115 balls for the West Indies. In this innings, he also hit 5 fours and 7 sixes.

Apart from Shai Hope, Rovman Powell also made an important contribution of 46 runs in the match. At the same time, opener batsman Brendan King contributed 30 and Kyle Meyers contributed 36 runs. Apart from this, Nicholas Pooran also played an inning of 39 runs in 41 balls in batting for the team.

South Africa’s Temba Bavuma scored a century

Chasing the target of 336 runs given by the West Indies, captain Temba Bavuma played a brilliant century innings of 144 runs for South Africa. In this innings, he also hit 11 fours and 7 excellent sixes. Bavuma shared an excellent 76-run partnership for the first wicket with opener Quinton Dickock in the match. Dickock was dismissed after playing a stormy innings of 48 runs in 26 balls.

Even after this, Bavuma continued to handle one drop but he got support from the rest of the batsmen, due to which the entire South African team was reduced to 287 runs.

West Indies bowlers showed amazing

The West Indies bowlers wreaked havoc on South Africa with the bat. Alzarri Joseph and Akil Hussain took three wickets each in the match. Apart from this, one wicket each came in the account of Kyle Mayers, Yannick Kariah and Odin Smith.
