- Debutant fast bowler Marco Johnson took 4 wickets in India’s second innings
Indian Test team captain Virat Kohli failed to play big innings in both the innings of the Centurion Test against South Africa. Kohli scored 35 runs in the first innings and 18 runs in the second innings. In both the innings, he was dismissed on the outgoing ball.
In the second innings, Virat was dismissed by left arm young pacer Marco Jansen. On the first ball after lunch on the fourth day, 21-year-old Johnson dealt a big blow to India by getting Kohli caught by wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.
Johnson is playing his first Test match. Jansen, who has played 2 matches in IPL, is the same bowler who troubled Virat Kohli a lot in the nets 3 years ago i.e. in 2018. This rising bowler had bowled Kohli in the nets at that time as well.
Johnson took advantage of Virat’s weakness. In both the innings, Kohli lost his wicket trying to play the ball going out. Kohli’s year 2021 did not live up to expectations. He played a total of 11 Test matches this year but during this time no century came from his bat.
For the last two years, Virat is waiting for a century in international cricket. Kohli had scored his last century against Bangladesh in the Day Night Test played at the Eden Gardens in the year 2019.
