Bhubaneswar: The FIH Hockey World Cup match between Australia and Argentina ended in a 3-3 draw. Three-time champions Australia took the lead in the 9th minute when Hayward Jeremy converted a penalty corner. But the Argentines struck back in the 18th minute with a goal from Domaine Tomas and the score became 1-1. Bill Daniels once again gave Australia the lead in the match by scoring a goal. But where was Argentina going to be left behind? Kasela Meiko’s goal in the 32nd minute brought the match back on par.

Argentina took the lead for the first time in the match in the 48th minute through Ferreiro Martin. But Gowers Blake equalized Australia 3-3 in the 58th minute and both the teams got one point each. Australia beat France 8–0 and Argentina beat South Africa 1–0 in their first match. In another Pool A match, France beat South Africa 2-1 thanks to two penalty corners by Charlotte Victor. Beauchamp Conor scored the only goal for South Africa from a penalty corner.

In their Pool C matches at Rourkela, three-time champions Netherlands thrashed New Zealand 4-0 while Malaysia beat Chile 3-2. Brinkman Thierry scored twice in the first quarter, while Bijen Koen and Hodemakers Zepp also scored a goal each as the Netherlands took a strong step towards the quarter-finals.

What are the equations for India?

The Indian team is in Pool D. The team defeated Spain 2-0 in the first match. And in the second match played a goalless draw with England. At the same time, England defeated Wales 5–0 in their first match. India has to play the last match against Wales and England against Spain. The top team in the pool will get a direct entry into the quarter-finals. If England lose their last match, then India will go directly to the quarter-finals even after playing a draw. But if both the teams get the win then the team will be decided by the goal-difference. That means India will have to win the next match by a big margin.

The second and third placed teams in the pool will not directly qualify for the quarterfinals. They will have to go through the cross-overs round before the quarter-finals. A win here will seal a place in the quarter-finals.
