Captain Rohit Sharma said after the toss, ‘There is a change for us, Bhuvi is back, Rishabh is not playing. We needed only 4 bowlers in the last game, so Bhuvi unfortunately missed out. Rishabh has been in and out of the team since the Asia Cup. He was overtaken by Dinesh Karthik at the start of the Asia Cup, but as the tournament progressed, he made a comeback. Both the wicket-keepers were part of the playing XI against Afghanistan.
In the first T20, India went ahead with Karthik with Rishabh on the bench. Karthik proved his mettle in the Nagpur T20I in just 2 balls and finished the game with a six and a four. Here Rishabh has been India’s trump card in Test cricket, but he does not look as effective in the white ball format.
India’s Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal
Australia’s Playing XI: Aaron Finch (c), Cameron Greene, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Tim David, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa
