    Big news has come for India from Tokyo Olympics. Female badminton player PV Sindhu has reached the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics. He made it to the last-4 place in the second consecutive Olympics. Sindhu defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi 21-13, 22-20 in straight games to reach the semi-finals. PV Sindhu won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. If she wins another match, her medal will be confirmed. In such a situation, she will become the first player from India to win two medals in badminton.

    The first point of the match went to the host player Akane Yamaguchi. After this the score was tied at 2-2. Yamaguchi then took a 4-2 lead. The score then went in favor of Yamaguchi 5-3, 6-4, 6-5. Sindhu got a 7-6 lead for the first time. After this he did not give a chance to Yamaguchi. After this Sindhu was ahead 8-6, 8-7, 9-7, 10-7, 11-7. Then the lead of 17-11, 18-11, 18-12, 18-13, 19-13, 20-13 went in favor of Sindhu. In the end, Sindhu won the game 21-13 in 23 minutes.

    PV Sindhu had a good start in the second game. At one point, she was heading for an easy victory with a 10-5 and 15-11 lead. But after this Akane Yamaguchi made a comeback and leveled the score at 15-15. After this the score was leveled at 18-18. Yamaguchi was then close to winning the game by taking a 20-18 lead. But after this Indian player PV Sindhu scored 4 points in a row and won the game 22-20 to win the match. This game lasted for 33 minutes. The match lasted for 56 minutes.

    PV Sindhu will face Tai Tzu Ying or Ratnachok Intanon in the semi-finals on Saturday 31 July. The fourth quarter-final of this event is to be held between Tai Tzu of Taiwan and Intanon of Thailand. Only the player who wins this match will clash with PV Sindhu. In the second semi-final of women’s singles, there will be a match between two Chinese players Chen Yufei and Hee Bingzao. Hee Bingjao defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to reach the semi-finals. Chen Yufei defeated An Se Young of Korea.

    Talking about individual sports in Olympics, only Sushil Kumar has won two medals as an Indian player. Wrestler Sushil won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Then he captured the silver medal in the 2012 London Olympics. Norman Pritchard won two silver medals in athletics from India in 1900. Although he was originally from Britain.
