Sydney. Australian Test captain Tim Paine has hit out at former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, asking him to take care of his work and not impress his country’s players for the Ashes series in December this year. Pietersen criticized the quarantine rules in Australia on Twitter and called it ridiculous. The availability of England cricketers for the five-match Ashes tour is also in doubt due to the stringent quarantine rules imposed by Australia.
Due to mental stress, England players want to take their family members with them for the Ashes series, but the Australian government is opposed to this move in view of the strict travel restrictions due to the Corona epidemic.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also asked the cricketers of his country to allow their family members to travel to Australia.
However, Paine criticized Pietersen for leaving the decision up to the players and not influencing them to withdraw from the tour.
“Peterson is an expert on everything and there is no doubt about it,” Penn said. If someone is talking to Pietersen, no one is forcing you to come, no one is forcing any England player to come. That’s the beauty of the world we live in, you have a choice, if you don’t want to come, don’t.
He said, Peterson leave it to the players and let them speak. We haven’t heard from a single England player that he won’t come.
England captain Joe Root also said that he is looking forward to playing in the Ashes but wants clarity on the quarantine protocol before going on the tour.
Paine said whether Root or any England player decides to come to Australia, the Ashes will go ahead. (IANS)
