Pandya said after the match – To be honest, this pitch was shocking. So far we have played two matches. I don’t mind difficult wickets. I am ready for it, but both these wickets are not made for T20. Curators need to understand this. Even 120 runs here was enough to win. Dew didn’t play much role as they were able to spin the ball more than us. It was a surprising pitch.
Despite scoring 155 in reply to 176 in the opening T20, Pandya expressed displeasure over the Ranchi pitch. He said that there was a lot of turn on the field. Most of the overs were done by the spinners. He also got success. On the other hand, India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said – When we first saw the wicket, we realized that it is dry. There was apparently some grass in the middle but no grass at either end.
He further said – When we saw the field earlier, it seemed that it would turn. It’s going to be a challenging wicket, we got the feeling. I didn’t think it would be that difficult. You have to ask the curator why he was not able to prepare a better pitch. Was it because of the short time? New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner agreed with Paras that 15-20 more runs would have resulted in a different match.
