Till now no cricket fan can believe that Scotland defeated Bangladesh in the World Cup. Scotland beat Bangladesh by 6 runs on the very first day of the World Cup. The kind of all-round game displayed by Scotland’s Chris Greaves yesterday was the main reason behind Bangladesh’s defeat.
Bangladesh and Scotland were face to face in the first match of Group B, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangladesh restricted Scotland to 140 runs in 20 overs, taking nine wickets for Scotland. Bangladesh was ahead till this stage of the match.
For Scotland, his opener George Mnase scored 29 runs in 23 balls but he was not supported by any other batsman, Alam was that Scotland had lost their 6 wickets for just 53 runs in 12 overs. After which Chris Greaves’ 45 off 28 balls took Scotland to a respectable score.

Chasing 141 runs, Bangladesh’s start was not particularly good and it was stung even more when Chris Greaves dismissed experienced Bangladesh batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan in successive overs. After which Bangladesh could not come up in the match and in the end could only score 134 runs after losing 7 wickets, due to which Scotland got its first win in the World Cup 2021.

For Scotland, Chris Greaves took 2 for 19 in his three overs, Brand Wheel took 3 for 24 for Scotland and John Dewey took 1-1 with Mark Watt. Mushfikar played the biggest innings of 38 runs in 36 balls for Bangladesh, except for him, no other batsman could do anything special which became the main reason for Bangladesh’s defeat.
