Hyderabad: Cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting tomorrow. In the year 2022, Shreyas was the highest run-scorer for the Indian team. But the back injury cost him dearly. The BCCI gave this information on Tuesday afternoon. Madhya Pradesh batsman Rajat Patidar has been made the replacement of Shreyas Iyer.
How deep is Iyer’s injury, how long it will take to recover from it, it is not yet known. Now he will go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his rehab. At present, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are also running out of the team due to injury. Rishabh Pant injured in a road accident will be out of action for the whole year. Earlier, Rohit Sharma, Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami have also been in and out due to poor fitness.
The first match of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand will be played in Hyderabad, second in Raipur and third and last in Indore.
