Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, achieved great success last year. This young spinner wants to take the wicket of his favorite cricketer Virat Kohli.
Hasranga’s performance in the ICC T20 World Cup was excellent. He took 16 wickets in eight matches. The leg-spinner’s stature is increasing continuously in international cricket. Hasranga aims to take the wicket of his favorite cricketer someday.
Hasranga told news agency ANI, ‘I would like to take the wicket of my favorite cricketer Virat Kohli someday. I also want to get Babar Azam and Glenn Maxwell out.
Hasaranga was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second phase of IPL 2021. He was part of the team of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell.
I don’t want to be the next Muralitharan or Rangana Herath: Wanindu Hasaranga
The 24-year-old spinner is believed to be the successor to Muttiah Muralitharan and Rangana Herath. Both of them have been the leaders of the Sri Lankan spin attack. Hasranga, however, said there was no pressure on him to perform at that level.
Hasranga said, ‘When I bowl, I only try to take wickets. When I am in the national team, I always try to give my best. That’s why I am successful. I always motivate myself to do well. I never take pressure. I don’t want to be the next Muralitharan or the next Herath. I want to be the first Hasranga.
Hasaranga Lanka doing well in Premier League. He is showing impressive game playing for Jaffna Kings. He said, ‘Leg spinners can do anything. Since the batsman plays big shots in T20 cricket, we have a lot of opportunities. We have many variations. Sometimes we get 40-50 runs in a match. But in the next match, we find a way back and take 4-5 wickets. Leg spinners can win matches.
