New Delhi: India’s number one sprinter Dutee Chand has tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid in an out-of-tournament test and has been provisionally suspended. Dutee, who finished second in the 100 and 200 meters at the Asian Games 2018, is the defending national champion in 100 metres. The notification issued by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) said, “Dutee Chand has been found guilty of consuming Andarine, Ostarine and Ligandrol.”
“I inform you that your A sample has been tested at NDTL (National Dope Test Laboratory) as per WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) procedure and the result has come positive,” the AAF notification in a letter to Dutee said. ‘ This sample was taken in an out-of-tournament competition on December 5 last year. The letter also warned Dutee about its consequences. It said, ‘Read carefully the contents of the letter in which its results have been told.’
When contacted, Dutee said, ‘I have not received any information. I have given many tests but AFI has not told me anything. I am getting information about this from social media only.
Asian Games this year
The Asian Games are to be hosted by China in September-October. She is a big medal contender for India in the Games. In the 2018 Games held in Indonesia, Dutee won the silver medal in the 100 and 200 meter events.
