Sports Ministry in action mode, cancellation of wrestling tournament organized in Gonda, shock to Brij Bhushan Singh

New Delhi: A major decision has been taken by the Sports Ministry in the midst of ongoing protests against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Singh. The Sports Ministry has ordered the cancellation of the ranking tournament organized by the Wrestling Association in Gonda with immediate effect. The ministry has also directed WFI to refund the entry fee collected from the participants for the ongoing event. In this context, the Sports Ministry has informed the Wrestling Federation of India on Saturday that various allegations made by athletes against the federation are being investigated. In such a situation, until a decision is taken on this, all kinds of sports events should be stopped.

Secretary of wrestling association suspended

Apart from this, Vinod Tomar, secretary of the Wrestling Association, has also been suspended. The Olympic Association and the Sports Ministry admitted that Vinod Tomar’s stay could adversely affect the investigation. It would not be right for them to live in such a situation. That is why he was suspended with immediate effect. Vinod Tomar was appointed as Secretary in the year 2002.

Recently Vinod Tomar had openly supported Brij Bhushan Singh and believed that the allegations leveled against him are baseless.

Brij Bhushan Singh has also given clarification

Wrestling Association President Brij Bhushan Singh has said that there is no truth whatsoever in the allegations leveled against him. No one has any evidence against them and they are being framed. A conspiracy is being hatched against him. However, the athletes who are protesting against him at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar are determined to stand firm until Brij Bhushan Singh is removed from his post.

Vinesh Phogat has accused of exploitation

Star female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has alleged against Brij Bhushan Singh that he has mentally exploited her. The reason for not winning a medal in the Tokyo Olympics was that he was ill-treated.
