Sydney. Aaron Aaron Finch will lead a strong Australian team in the T20 World Cup to be held in Oman and UAE this year. Opener David Warner and former captain Steve Smith have returned in the team selected for this. While Smith has just recovered from an elbow injury, Captain Finch recently underwent knee surgery. Now she is completely fine. Warner was rested for the recent tours to West Indies and Bangladesh. Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Marcus Stoinis and Pat Cummins are also back in action after being out of the team for a while.
The selectors dropped nine players, including wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey and bowlers Jhye Richardson and Andrew Tye. All of them played in the recent T20 series against West Indies and Bangladesh.
The uncapped Josh Inglis is also included in the 15-man squad announced by Cricket Australia’s chief selector. Cricketer-turned-selector George Bayley said, “We are confident that this team is a very competitive team and will show a great game in the coming tournaments.”
He further added, “We have some of the best players in the world who, with their collective experience in their respective roles, can achieve success against the best T20 teams in the world.”
The T20 World Cup was to be held in India this year but in view of the bad situation of the Corona epidemic in India, the ICC has decided to organize the World Cup jointly hosted by UAE and Oman.
