Virat and Rohit included in top ten
Dubai (EMS). Indian team’s experienced batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have joined the top ten in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings. Young opener Shubhman Gill (759 points) has reached the second position along with him. This is the best ranking of his career so far. Now Pakistan captain Babar Azam is ahead of Shubman with only 863 points. Shubman has the advantage of scoring two half-centuries in the Asia Cup. Three players from India have topped the rankings. This happened for the first time since January 2019.
Captain Rohit and Virat have gained two places each and have come to eighth and ninth position. Rohit also scored a half-century against Sri Lanka while Virat has moved up in the rankings thanks to his unbeaten 122 runs against Pakistan.
Whereas KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have gained two places and have come to 22nd position. After taking nine wickets in two matches of the Asia Cup, spinner Kuldeep Yadav has moved up five places to seventh position. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is also making a comeback in ODIs, has moved up eight places to 27th position while all-rounder Hardik Pandya has moved up 21 places to 56th in the bowlers’ rankings and has also moved up four places to sixth position among all-rounders. Pakistan also has three batsmen in the top 10 of the batsmen’s rankings. In which Pakistan captain Babar Azam is at number one, he is maintaining a lead of more than 100 rating points over Shubman.
Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman are at fifth and tenth position. In South Africa, captain Temba Bavuma has moved closer to the top 10 after scoring three centuries and two half-centuries in his last eight ODI matches. He has moved up 21 places to reach 11th position.
