Indian yachtsmen Arjun Lal Jat and Ravi won gold in men’s doubles sculls event while Parminder Singh won a silver medal in men’s singles sculls event at the Asian Sailing Championships on Saturday.
Arjun and Ravi beat the Chinese pair of King Lee and Lutong Zhang and Uzbekistan’s Davarjon Davronov and Abdulo Mukhamadiev to top the gold medal match at the Royal Thai Navy Rowing Center in Rayong.
Arjun and his partner Ravi, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, clocked 6:57,883 seconds while the Chinese pair clocked 7:02.374 seconds.
This is India’s second consecutive medal in the men’s doubles sculls event of this continental competition. Indian players won bronze in the 2019 Asian Rowing Championships.
Arjun had earlier won a silver medal in the men’s ‘lightweight single sculls’ event at the last continental event. Parminder then took India’s second medal of the day by winning the silver medal in his event with a timing of 8:7.323 seconds.
Kholmurzav Shakhboj of Uzbekistan won the men’s singles sculls gold with a timing of 7:56.307 seconds. Indonesia’s Memo finished third in 8:10.55 seconds. Indian sailing players have advanced to the finals of five more events to be held on Sunday where they will stake their claim for a medal.
