Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to wish his old friend and former batsman Vinod Kambli on his 50th birthday. Tendulkar shares old childhood photos.
Along with this, he captioned, ‘Our innumerable memories on and off the field are such that I will always cherish. I want to hear from you how it feels to be 50.’ Kambli has also responded to this. Kambli wrote, ‘Thank you Master! At 50, I feel as energetic and young as any newborn does.
Tendulkar and Kambli’s relationship dates back to childhood. Together they started learning cricket from coach Ramakant Achrekar in Mumbai. There were ups and downs in this relationship but in 2019 both decided to come together on Friendship Day. And after that the same warmth was seen between the two as it used to be.
Tendulkar made his international debut in 1989, while Kambli played his first international match almost two years later. Kambli played his first international match against Pakistan in 1991. However, in 1993 he played his first Test match against England.
Kambli scored 1084 runs in 17 test matches for India. His batting average was 54.20. He scored 2477 runs in 104 ODIs. His batting average stood at 32.59. In his short Test career, he hit two double centuries. At the same time, Sachin scored his first double century after a 10-year journey.
Kambli played his last match against Sri Lanka in the year 2000. In this match, the Indian team was out for just 54 runs. After that he never played for India. He played for India in the 1992 and 1996 World Cups. When he came out of the field crying in the 1996 World Cup semi-final, that picture became quite viral.
