Paarl (South Africa). Paarl Royals captain David Miller played a brilliant knock to help them beat Pretoria Capital by six wickets in their SA20 match at Boland Park. Miller scored an unbeaten 28 to keep the Royals’ playoff qualification hopes alive.
The Pretoria Capitals go into the match as favorites after the Centurion-based side sit top of the table following their win over Durban’s Supergiants on Friday.
The visiting captain Wayne Parnell won the toss and elected to bat in the final match at Paarl.
Capitals batsmen Kusal Mendis and Theunis de Bruyne scored 37 and 53 respectively to help the visitors post 158/6.
Proteas seamer Lungi Ngidi continued his good form with 1/19 from his four overs, while Ferrisco Adams took 2/38.
The chase got off to a good start for the home side, even though they lost both Jason Roy (21) and Vihaan Lubbe (29) early, but that did not deter the Royals’ good innings.
Jose Butler (37) and Dan Villa (24) tried their best to win the team.
But, Miller played a brilliant innings to help his team towards the winning goal.
JP Duminy’s Royals charge are now at the third spot in the table with 13 points, while the Capitals are at the first spot.
