Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL-2023 journey ended with a defeat on Saturday. Kolkata were defeated by Lucknow Super Giants by one run in a very thrilling match at their home Eden Gardens Stadium. This season, one name from Kolkata side was in big discussion and that name is Rinku Singh. This batsman showed his bat skills on Saturday as well and almost gave Kolkata a win, but luck probably had something else in store.
Kolkata was not looking in a position to win this match. In the last three overs, Kolkata needed 51 runs to win. It is not easy to score so many runs but Kolkata was hopeful that it could be done because Rinku Singh was stable. That Rinku who hit five consecutive sixes in five balls in the last over to give Kolkata victory against Gujarat Titans.

Rinku tried to do the work that was expected of him and almost gave victory to his team, but still he missed by coming very close. In the last over, Kolkata needed 21 runs to win. On the first ball, Vaibhav Arora took a single and gave strike to Rinku. Yash Thakur, who was throwing the last over as soon as he came in front of Rinku, got a little nervous and threw a wide. There was no run on the second and third ball.
Here it seemed that Rinku’s strength was over, but then Yash threw another wide. Here Kolkata needed three sixes in three balls to win. After this Rinku hit a six. Thought Rinku would work again but on the fifth ball he hit a four and a six on the last ball. In this over, Rinku had left the chance to take two runs on the third ball and if he had taken those two runs, Kolkata could have won the match.
