Cape Town: India registered a resounding victory over Pakistan in their very first match of the Women’s T20 World Cup being played in South Africa. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan women scored 149 runs, in response to which Harmanpreet Kaur’s team achieved this target by seven wickets in the first over.
Pakistani captain’s innings went in vain
Pakistan’s innings revolved around Bismah and Ayesha. Captain Bismah Maroof (68 not out) scored a half-century and Ayesha Naseem (43 not out) shared an unbroken 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Both of them made this partnership in just 47 balls. Bismah faced 55 balls and hit seven fours in his unbeaten innings. Radha Yadav was the most successful bowler for India, taking two wickets for 21 runs in four overs. Deepti Sharma got India’s first breakthrough by dismissing Javeria Khan (08 runs) who tried to sweep and the ball edged into the hands of Hamranpreet Kaur. Ayesha scored an unbeaten 43 in just 25 balls at a strike rate of 172 which included two fours and as many sixes.
