Rawalpindi:New Zealand team is on Pakistan tour. The Pakistani team is leading 2-1 in the five-match T20I series. The fourth match between the two teams started on Thursday night but could not be completed due to bad weather. By the time the match was stopped, the New Zealand team, batting first, had scored 164 runs at the loss of five wickets in 18.5 overs. Mark Chapman and Chad Bowes had completed half-centuries. Then hail started falling after heavy rain. The players had to come out. Groundsmen must have run inside with covers, but were also seen covering themselves with the same covers to protect themselves from the big hail. After this the umpire canceled the match. Now on the same ground next Monday, there will be the last and decisive T20 of the series. Talking about this match, New Zealand captain Tom Latham (13) gave an aggressive start to the Kiwi team when he won the toss of Babar Azam and decided to field. After being selected, Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Shaheen Shah hit Afridi for three fours in the first over. Latham did not last long. When Babar turned to left-arm spinner Imad Wasim inside the powerplay, Pakistan got two quick wickets.
Latham removes Wasim at deep square leg. He threw away his wicket while trying to sweep and clean bowled Will Young (6) on a low ball. But Chad Bowes, the other opener, survived, scoring 54 and showing early aggression against Afridi. New Zealand’s score in the powerplay was 50-2.
Bowes shared a 54-run partnership with Chapman for the fourth wicket to bring New Zealand back into the match. Opener Bowes scored his maiden T20 half-century against leg-spinner Shadab Khan with fours and sixes. Afridi avenged his beating by dismissing Bowes. After this, Chapman started tackling the Pakistani bowlers in the death overs when it started raining.
