Playing first, Bengaluru made a big score of 205 runs. Punjab chased down the target of 206 runs for 5 wickets in the 19th over. At one point in this match, Bangalore’s team seemed to be moving towards victory, but due to the mistake of the fielder in the 17th over and then Odean Smith in the 18th over, it was defeated.
Punjab needed 44 runs in 4 overs to win. Odeon Smith was batting with Shahrukh Khan on the pitch. In the 17th over, Harshal Patel conceded just three runs in the first three balls. Earlier, RCB scored a big total on the basis of 88 runs from new captain Faf du Plessis and a 118-run partnership for the second wicket with former captain Virat Kohli. Du Plessis, who started his innings with a 30-ball 17, hit seven sixes and four fours in his 57-ball knock. Kohli scored 41 runs in an unbeaten innings of 29 balls with one four and two sixes. Dinesh Karthik scored an unbeaten 32 off 14 balls in the last over. He hit three fours and as many sixes.
