India have two reserve fast bowlers for the T20 World Cup in Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar, the board can add any one of them to the main squad. The BCCI can make this change by itself till October 15, after which they will have to take permission from the technical group of the ICC. Earlier, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was also ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a knee injury.
The Indian team is still awaiting the fitness assessment of Deepak Hooda, who is part of the 15-member World Cup squad. Hooda is also currently in NCA, Bangalore due to a back injury. The Indian contingent is to leave for Australia on 6 October. Another option for India is to strengthen their batting to cover up their bowling weakness. Hardik Pandya is more famous for his all-round ability and he will depend on five bowlers to make up for Bumrah’s absence.
Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Axar Patel and R Ashwin – these bowlers who are also capable of running the bat and give options to India. Bringing a team full of batsmen and scoring big scores will also reduce the pressure on the bowlers.
