Brad Hogg raised questions on Dhoni and umpires (PC-IPL T20)
New Delhi, Chennai Super Kings have made it to the finals of IPL 2023. Dhoni & Co. defeated Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier. However, there was a controversy in this match which Dhoni But it is raising questions. Not only Dhoni, the former Australian cricketer has also put a question mark on the umpires.
Brad Hogg tweeted questioning Dhoni and the umpires. He believes that when Dhoni was talking to the umpires for 4 minutes, during that time the umpires were joking with him. Whereas they should have handled the situation. this is not right.
Why did the match stop for 4 minutes
In fact, just before the 16th over of Gujarat’s innings, the match stopped for 4 minutes because Dhoni was talking to the umpire. The issue was that the umpires stopped fast bowler Pathirana from bowling. Actually he was out of the ground before the over. According to the rules, no player can bowl after entering directly after the break. For the number of minutes that player remains outside, he has to field for that long, only after that he can bowl.
Dhoni using his presence to full effect, luring the umpires into a 4 minute discussion causing time to run out for Pathirana to bowl after an extended break off the field. Umpires laughing over the incident rather than taking control of the situation is not good enough. #CSKvsGT

Pathirana as impact player was not available in the field for 3-4 mins so Umpire asked MS to give ball to someone since Pathirana has to cover that time and MSjust played smartly to waste 3-4 minutes chatting to Umpire and making him available again.#CSKvsGT #MSDhoni #Dhoni pic.twitter.com/d1TqOjIttJ

Dhoni deliberately stopped the match?
Now it is being said that Dhoni talked to the umpires to consume the same time and finally when the time was over, Pathirana got the bowling. After this, he took two wickets while bowling well and Chennai made it to the IPL final for the 10th time.
Now the question is whether the umpires did wrong on this issue? Or did Dhoni take advantage of the rules? By the way, according to the rules, if a player deliberately spoils the time, then a penalty of 5 runs is imposed on him. Whether that rule applies here or not is a big question. By the way, according to the news, Gujarat Titans have also not registered any objection on this issue.
