LLC: Amla’s attack, classical Kallis also Fifty, World Giants in the final

Doha: Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis struck brilliant half-centuries as the Legends League Cricket (LLC) entered the finals of the Masters. Asia Lions lost the match by 20 runs. In the sixth match of the tournament at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Amla scored 68 runs in 59 balls with the help of nine fours and a six, while Kallis scored an unbeaten 56 in 43 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Together they shared a 105-run partnership in 80 balls to take World Giants to 150 for 3 in 20 overs.

In response, Asia Lions were reduced to 130 runs. Chris Mapofu and Tino Best took three wickets each. Except Tillakaratne Dilshan (37) and captain Shahid Afridi (26), no one could stay at the crease for Asia Giants. The Eliminator between Asia Lions and India Maharajas will now be played on Saturday, with the winning team taking on defending champions World Giants in the final.

Asia Lions won the toss and elected to bowl. At the end of the powerplay, World Giants had scored only 30 runs and lost two wickets. Pakistan’s Abdul Razzaq bowled a brilliant seventh over conceding just five runs and the World Giants legend was gasping for runs. Suhail Tanvir stops the run flow completely. Razzaq gave only three runs in the ninth over. Captain Afridi also bowled tightly.

In the 12th over, Kallis hit Afridi’s first ball for a four, while Amla hit the last ball for a second four. Kallis hit Isuru Udana for a six over mid-wicket in the 13th over. The pair shared a 50-run partnership in 7.5 overs. Kallis hit Afridi for two consecutive fours, the first over square leg and the second through extra cover. The score crossed 100 runs in 15.3 overs. Now to make a place in the final, the match between India Maharaja and Asia Lions will be played on Saturday at 8:00 pm.
