Virat will make room for Surya
In such a situation, the question arises that in whose place should Suryakumar Yadav get a chance in the playing XI. The team is completely packed from top to bottom. But still the team management has decided that if Surya has to be fed today then experienced batsman Virat Kohli can be given rest under workload management. Anyway, Virat is sure to play in the middle order for the World Cup. Shreyas Iyer has also done well in the previous matches but the in-form Surya has put extra pressure on him.
Will Ishaan also get a chance?
The team has started looking beyond Shikhar Dhawan. KL Rahul has been set in the middle order, so it seems certain that Shubman Gill will be seen in the opening with Rohit Sharma in the World Cup. To keep the backup plan strong, Ishaan must also be given a chance. Shubman is running in good rhythm and after the double century, Ishaan Kishan’s confidence will also be on the seventh sky.
Arshdeep in place of Shami
Apart from two changes in batting, some changes are also expected in the bowling attack. With India playing six 50-over matches (three against Sri Lanka and as many against New Zealand) in a span of 14 days, Mohammed Shami’s workload will definitely be a major concern for the Indian team management. In such a situation, by resting him, left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh can be tried for variety as he also needs some ‘game time’. Arshdeep can be very beneficial if the wicket remains favourable. Apart from this, it has to be seen whether spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who got a place in the team due to Yuzvendra Chahal being unfit, can retain his place in the XI. Despite performing well on the last few occasions, he has been in and out of the team.
India’s probable playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj, Umran Malik
Possible playing XI of Sri Lanka: Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dhananjay D’Silva, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinus Velalage, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara
