CSK’s poor fielding
Till the powerplay, CSK dropped two catches from Venkatesh Iyer and a simple catch from Shubman Gill. The special thing was that Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave both the lives to Iyer on the score of 0 and 25. At the same time, when Gill was playing on 8, his catch was dropped by Shardul Thakur. In the 10th over, Gill was caught by Ambati Rayudu off Ravindra Jadeja’s ball, but due to the dead ball, Shubman Gill got a big life at the score of 27. Actually, the ball went into Rayudu’s hand after getting attached to the wire of the spider camera.
Dhoni did not bat
It is believed that perhaps this could be Dhoni’s last IPL. If this was indeed Dhoni’s last IPL, then his fans could not see him bat for the last time in the final.
CSK played like a champion
Playing first after losing the toss, CSK got off to a good start. Rituraj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis added 61 runs in 8 overs for the first wicket. This partnership was broken by Sunil Narine by dismissing Rituraj (32). Narine then took the wicket of Robin Uthappa (31). Faf du Plessis scored (86) off 59 balls. The team scored 192/3 in 20 overs.
- Till the powerplay, Chennai’s score was 50 for no loss.
- Du Plessis (86) This season this was his sixth and 22 half-centuries in the IPL.
- Faf du Plessis is playing his 100th IPL match today.
- Uthappa and du Plessis added 63 runs in 33 balls for the second wicket.
- Robin Uthappa scored (31) runs in 15 balls with the help of 3 sixes.
- Du Plessis and Moeen Ali added 68 runs in 39 balls for the third wicket.
- Moeen Ali played an unbeaten knock of just 20 balls (37).
- Lockie Ferguson spent 56 runs in four overs without taking any wicket.

Rituraj Youngest Orange Cap Winner
CSK’s young opener Rituraj Gaikwad has captured the Orange Cap this season. Gaikwad became the youngest player to win the Orange Cap. He achieved this record at the age of 24. Before him, this record was recorded in the name of former Punjab Kings opener Shaun Marsh (25 years). This season, Rituraj scored 635 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 45.36.
Faf du Plessis also scored (86) in the final. At one point it seemed that he would be able to snatch the Orange Cap from Rituraj, but it did not happen. This season Faf scored 633 runs at an average of 45.21.
Former India opener WV Raman has praised Chennai opener Rituraj Gaikwad. He tweeted and wrote β Shot selection and ability to play him in the best way makes Rituraj Gaikwad a special player.
