Colombo, (Hindustan Reporter) Pakistan fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah are doubtful for the remaining matches of the Asia Cup after suffering injuries during the Super Four match against India in Colombo on Sunday and Monday.
According to ESPNcricinfo, it is almost certain that both of these fast bowlers will not play in Pakistan’s next match against Sri Lanka on Thursday, and even if Pakistan reaches the final, it is uncertain whether they will play in the final.
Pakistan has called Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backup of these two. The PCB, however, has made it clear that Rauf and Naseem have not been ruled out of the tournament and will remain under the observation of the team’s medical panel.
“This is only a precautionary measure keeping in mind the fitness and well-being of the players ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next month,” the PCB said in an official statement. Rauf and Naseem will remain under the supervision of the team’s medical panel. If Naseem or Haris is ruled out for the next seven days then the team management will only request a replacement from the ACC Technical Committee.”
Rauf felt slight discomfort on Sunday, which prevented him from taking the field on Monday, while Naseem walked off the field in the 49th over of India’s innings on the Reserve Day due to an injury to his bowling shoulder. India scored 356 runs in the match, in reply Pakistan team could score only 128 runs.
It was a bad two days for Pakistan, during which all three leading fast bowlers, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi went off the field due to injuries at one point or the other.
