Australia won the title by tackling Team India in just one session on the last day.
London: Once again the same thing happened which happened two years ago in Southampton, about 130 km from London. The Indian cricket team, which reached the final of the World Test Championship for the second time in a row, had the same fate this time as it did in 2021. Once again Team India had to bear the brunt of the failure of its veteran batsmen. On the last day of the final against Australia, Team India was bundled out for just 234 runs and lost the title along with the match by 209 runs. In this way Australia became the World Test Champion.
The way Team India’s performance was on the first two days of the final at the Oval, this result was feared since then. Nevertheless, Team India made a strong comeback in the next two days and kept their hopes alive in the match. The Indian team was chasing a big target of 444 runs and had to score 280 runs on the last day. Had only 7 wickets in hand. Eventually all seven wickets of India fell in just one session.
Team India had a chance to take the match to a draw on the last day against New Zealand in the 2021 final in Southampton, but India’s second innings collapsed in the first session itself. The same happened at the Oval. This time the challenge in front of Team India was more difficult but after the strong performance of the fourth day the expectations had increased. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were responsible for taking the team forward.
