The India-Sri Lanka match in the ODI World Cup is being played on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first. Before the match, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar of India and legendary spinner of Sri Lanka Muttiah Muralitharan reached Wankhede Stadium. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and UNICEF are celebrating ‘One Day 4 Children’ at the Wankhede Stadium today. On this occasion, Sachin Tendulkar and ICC Ambassador Muttiah Mullerlidharan came on the field as the first regional ambassadors of South Asia. Both players also participated in the national anthems of the countries.
Rohit was bowled on the second ball of the match
Rohit Sharma started India’s batting in the match. Dilshan Madushanka came to bowl the first over. Madushanka bowled Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the over. Rohit went to play Madushanka’s good length ball considering it to be an inswinger, but it turned out to be an outswinger. Rohit got beaten on this ball and the ball hit the stump.
Asalanka dropped Gill’s catch
Charith Asalanka gave life to Shubman Gill in the fifth over of the innings. Madushanka bowled a good length ball to Gill on the fifth ball of the over. Gill lifted it towards cover point. Asalanka, who was fielding at point, came running and dived with wrong timing. Due to this the ball slipped from his hands and Gill was saved.
Chameera gave life to Kohli
Chameera gave life to Kohli in the very next over of Gill’s catch drop. Chameera was bowling in the sixth over. Chameera bowled a length delivery on the first ball of the over, Kohli tried to flick it. The ball hit the upper part of the bat and came towards the front. After throwing the ball, Chameera tried to catch the ball with his left hand in follow through, but failed.
Shreyas hits Rajitha with the biggest six of the tournament
Shreyas Iyer hit a 106 meter long six to Sri Lankan pacer Rajitha. Shreyas got the fourth ball of the 36th over in his zone on the off side. Taking advantage of this, Iyer played a shot at long on and the ball went 106 meters away. This was the biggest six of this World Cup. Earlier, Glenn Maxwell had hit a six of 104 meters against New Zealand.
