In limited overs, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma can be named the captain of the Indian team for the T20 International series against New Zealand. Along with this, Sharma can also be given the command of the Indian team for the first Test match against New Zealand.
Current Test captain Virat Kohli is taking a break from the first Test and will join the team for the second Test in Mumbai. It is expected that Kohli will also not play in the T20 International series against New Zealand.
Current vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who was out of form in the series against England, will continue as vice-captain. KL Rahul can be made the vice-captain of the team for the T20 series. The first three T20 Internationals will be played in Jaipur, Ranchi and Kolkata. There will be two Test matches of the series in Kanpur and Mumbai.

Some senior players in the team – Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami – may be rested for the T20I series. Harshal Patel may get a chance in place of Varun Chakraborty. Patel did very well in the IPL in the last two seasons but was ignored for the T20 World Cup.
These players may return
Shreyas Iyer, who was not part of the earlier T20 squad, may make a comeback. Deepak and Rahul Chahar can also be part of the team. The rest of the team can also retain their place.
Team India will play a series of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and 4 T20 matches on South African tour
The selectors will also have to see that if Rishabh Pant is the first-choice wicketkeeper, then either Wriddhiman Saha or KS Bharat of Andhra Pradesh can be kept as the reserve wicketkeeper. Indian team will play 3 match Test, 3 ODI and 4 match T20 series on South Africa tour. This series will start in the third week of December.
