Ind vs Nz: Not Virat-Sachin-Dhoni, Sanjay Manjrekar told this foreigner all time best batsman

New Delhi: Virat Kohli recently scored his 46th century in ODIs and with this he has come closer to breaking the record of 49 centuries held by the great Sachin Tendulkar. Along with this, the debate on Virat Kohli vs Sachin Tendulkar has once again started in the whole world. Some consider Kohli as the best while some favor Sachin. When Sanjay Manjrekar, former cricketer and doing commentary in the series against New Zealand, was asked about this, he gave a slightly different answer.

He said- When you look at the modern era, Virat Kohli has been on top for the last 20 years (about 15 years). Tendulkar is also regarded as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. In my opinion Virat Kohli is only ODI player. Another name that comes to mind is MS Dhoni. But, the best ODI batsman of all time, there is no one who can come close to Sir Vivian Richards. Now this may sound a bit old fashioned.

Manjrekar emphasized on Richards’ playing record and said that there was a big difference between him and other players of his era. He said- Viv Richards played in the 70s to 90s at a time when all the top batsmen averaged around 30 and had a strike rate of 60. Viv Richards averaged 47 and had a strike rate of 90 from the 70s to the 90s, including his last century in the World Cup.

Kohli is currently with the Indian team for the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand. The hosts sealed the series by winning the series 2-0 in Raipur on Saturday. The third ODI of the series will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India had earlier won by 12 runs in Hyderabad and 8 wickets in Raipur.
