New Delhi: It is certain that the final match of the World Test Championship will be with Duke Ball. Means the ball which is used in England. Now the practice should also be done from the one with whom the match is to be played. But during the practice session of Team India, colored rubber balls were used. That too not of red or pink colour, through which test matches are held. Rather green and yellow colored rubber balls were seen being used. Now you must be as surprised as you read this. Believe me, we were also like that. But then it came to know that there is a reason behind the use of those green-yellow balls. Actually, Team India was seen using those balls only for the practice of slip catching.

During the practice session, Shubman Gill was seen taking a catch with the green ball. Apart from this, there was also a yellow rubber ball. According to a fielding coach associated with NCA, these are completely different from the rubber balls that we use while playing cricket in the streets. The colored rubber balls being used in Team India’s practice sessions are called ‘reaction balls’, which are used for fielding practice.

Why is Team India practicing with green-yellow ball?
Countries where the ball swings. In countries that move after taking the edge of the bat, a reaction ball is used to practice slip catching. Dukes ball also takes swing and changes direction. That’s why practice is being done with green-yellow rubber balls because they take more swing and move.
