Melbourne: Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has again found himself in controversy a week before the tour of India. Cummins is accused of causing a loss of $40 million (Rs 231 crore 50 lakh 96 thousand four hundred) to Cricket Australia due to his anti-environmental views. Cummins is strongly contesting these claims. The whole issue started in October last year, when he refused to appear in the advertisements of the sponsors.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Cummins raised concerns about the national team’s deal with Alinta Energy in a meeting with Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hawkley. Alinta Energy then decided not to renew the sponsorship agreement after June 2023. Cummins told the news corps, ‘The position I am in, I get surrounded by various controversies. It has to be faced.
