New Delhi: Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup 2023, but after the BCCI’s objection, the PCB’s hands and feet have swelled. Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jai Shah has already made it clear that the Indian team will not go to play Pakistan. The tournament should be held at a neutral venue. On the other hand, Pakistan is also adamant about hosting. He is threatening that if India does not come to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup, then he will also not go to the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November this year. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi have come face to face on this issue.
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, ‘When we say that we will not go to his place, he will say that he will also not come to our place. By the way, I am sure that Pakistan will come to India to play the ODI World Cup. Asia Cup may be shifted to Sri Lanka. It is an important lead-up to the 50-over World Cup. There have been many tournaments in Dubai. I will also be happy if it is taken to Sri Lanka.
When former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi was asked about the whole matter, he said, ‘ICC should come forward. This matter should be settled. Before that they could not do anything in front of BCCI. If India is showing eyes, or is taking such a tough stand, then they have made themselves so strong, that is why they are able to talk like this, otherwise they would not have had the courage.
During a conversation with Sama TV, Shahid Afridi further says, ‘I don’t know, will India tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup? Will we boycott the ODI World Cup to be held in India? I want to say that even ICC will not be able to do anything in front of BCCI. The issue will now be taken up during the ACC meeting in Dubai in March.
