New Delhi: The job of the umpire is to follow the rules of cricket properly. Take care of the right-wrong decision on the field. But, umpire Jatin Kashyap put the rules of cricket on hold. He has been accused of violating not one but two rules, for which the ICC has sought an answer from him in 14 days.

The Anti-Corruption Unit of the International Cricket Council on Monday accused umpire Jatin Kashyap of violating the rules. The ICC said in its statement that during the ongoing investigation of international matches played in the year 2022, the allegations against Jatin Kashyap have been proved. The ICC, however, did not give much information about those international matches of 2022, for which the umpire was accused in the investigation being done.

Kashyap is also accused of delaying the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Unit and not cooperating in it. By doing so, he has violated Article 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

What are both the rules of the ICC Code of Conduct?

Section 2.4.6 of the ICC Code of Conduct pertains to non-cooperation, refusal to cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Unit, and failure to provide complete information to the Anti-Corruption Unit. While the direct connection of Section 2.4.7 of the ICC is related to causing obstruction or delay in anti-corruption investigation.

ICC sought answer in 14 days

However, allegations have been leveled against umpire Jatin Kashyap. Now he has been given 14 days to argue his case. This deadline of Jatin Kashyap starts from May 19, which means he has time till the 2nd of the next month. Only after his reply, the International Cricket Council will consider its next step. For the time being, the body governing cricket around the world refused to give any further details on the allegations leveled against Jatin Kashyap.
