    GT vs MI Qualifier 2 IPL 2023: Mumbai destroyed ahead of Gujarat, entry in final with Shubman Gill’s century

    Ahmedabad: Gujarat Titans have once again made it to the finals of IPL. The current champion team, captained by Hardik Pandya, entered the final by defeating the five-time champions Mumbai Indians unilaterally in Qualifier-2. Shubman Gill On the basis of K’s record century and then the excellent bowling of Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan, Gujarat registered a surprising victory by 62 runs.

    This was the second encounter between the two teams at the Narendra Modi Stadium this season and the result was similar to the previous match. Then Gujarat had scored more than 200 runs while batting first and stopped Mumbai before 160 runs. This time too, Gujarat batted first and while scoring a big score of 233 runs, piled up Mumbai for just 171 runs.

    Shubman Gill’s record century

    Earlier the start of this match was delayed due to rain. The captain of Gujarat had lost the toss in the match which started after a delay of half an hour from the scheduled time but it did not affect his performance. Shubman Gill became the reason. Gill, who has been batting tremendously since the beginning of this season, once again showed the same feat. In the sixth over, Tim David gave him a lifeline by dropping a catch. Then he was only on 30 runs.

    Mumbai had to bear the cost of this catch of Tim David. Gill first completed his half-century in just 32 balls and then hit the third century in just 49 balls this season and in the last 4 matches, raining boundaries. Gill was finally dismissed in the 17th over but by then had scored 129 runs. He also got the support of Sai Sudarshan (43). Both shared a partnership of 138 runs. And in the end, Captain Hardik also scored a quick 28 runs.

    Rohit Sharma fails again

    Mumbai’s start was spoiled even before the start of batting as Ishan Kishan was injured during fielding and had to be substituted. Nehal Wadhera (4) was forced to open with captain Rohit Sharma (8) but he returned to the pavilion in the very first over. He was dismissed by Mohammed Shami. Shami (2/41) returned again in the third over and this time Rohit was piled on.

    After losing two quick wickets, Mumbai suffered a setback in the form of Cameron Green, who went out injured. Despite this, Tilak Verma (43), who came to the crease recently, created a ruckus. The young batsman scored 24 runs including 4 consecutive fours and a six on Mohammed Shami in the fifth over. Rashid Khan (2/33), however, bowled Tilak in the seventh over.

    Mohit Sharma finally played

    Despite this, Suryakumar was at the crease and Green had also returned. Both shared a quick 52-run partnership to keep their hopes of victory alive. In the 12th over, Josh Little bowled Green (30) and shocked these hopes, but Surya still completed a quick half-century. All Mumbai’s hopes ended in the 15th over, when Surya (61) was bowled by Mohit Sharma (5/10). After this, the remaining wickets also went to Mohit and Mumbai collapsed in the 19th over.
