New DelhiFormer Team India batsman Yuvraj Singh was arrested and immediately released on bail by the Haryana Police on Sunday for making casteist remarks against Yuzvendra Chahal on social media. This action against him was taken by the Hansi Police on the orders of the Chandigarh High Court. He was arrested at Hansi in Haryana’s Hisar district after which he was formally released on bail by the police.
Actually, Yuvraj Singh made this comment with Rohit Sharma during an Instagram Live video in the year 2020. He also apologized for this ‘involuntary remark’. This comment made on Chahal was widely shared on social media. Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma were seen discussing Mr Chahal’s TikTok video.

Yuvraj Singh also expressed regret over the statement after the video went viral on social media. He said on Twitter that I want to make it clear that I do not believe in any kind of discrimination. Be it on the basis of caste, colour, gender or religion. I have dedicated my life for the betterment of the people and will continue to do so in future also. What I said during a conversation with my friends was misunderstood. However, as a responsible Indian citizen, I do say that if I have hurt anyone’s sentiments, I am sorry for that.

Police confiscated Yuvraj’s mobile
According to police sources, the police have confiscated Yuvraj’s mobile to collect evidence in the matter of commenting on a particular class. Hansi police will now present challan against Yuvraj Singh in court. After this, Yuvraj will have to get regular bail from the special court. Yuvraj will have to appear on every date in the special court set up under the SC/ST Atrocities Act at Hisar. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 5 years in this case.
