Khalil used to get beaten up a lot
It hasn’t been easy for Khaleel Ahmed to become a cricketer. Khalil’s father, a resident of Tonk in Jaipur district, is a compounder. He wanted the son to become a doctor. But Khalil had a different dream. Khaleel used to get scolded a lot for playing cricket. Many times even he was thrashed with a belt.
Khalil Ahmed recently while talking to Akash Chopra said – I have three elder sisters and my father was a compounder in Tonk district. So when daddy went to his job, I had to do errands like going to buy groceries, milk or vegetables. I used to go to play. Which meant that the housework could not be done.
The left-arm fast bowler further said, ‘My mother used to complain about this to my father, then he used to ask me where I was. I used to live on the ground. He used to be very angry. Because I didn’t study and didn’t work either. He used to beat me with a belt, which left marks on my body. My sisters used to treat those wounds at night.
Best record in IPL
Khaleel Ahmed has played 34 matches in IPL so far. He has 48 wickets in this. Last season, he took 16 wickets in 10 matches. If he does well this season, he can make a comeback in Team India as well. Khaleel, who was a part of Team India in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, has so far played 11 ODIs and 14 T20 Internationals. In this, he has 15 and 13 wickets respectively.
