Lahore. During their tour of Pakistan in September-October next year, England will play two additional Men’s T20 matches in addition to the five matches already scheduled. The decision has been taken after England and Wales Cricket Board chief Tom Harrison met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Rameez Raja.
The team will then travel to Pakistan in November-December after the ICC T20 World Cup Australia 2022 to play three Tests, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship.
Tom Harrison said, “Me and ECB Senior Director Martin Darlow have had a one-on-one discussion with the PCB on a number of issues over the past few weeks and have visited Lahore as the England team canceled their tour last month.” That’s why we wanted to discuss the future as well because both the borders have a historical connection and would like to look ahead rather than look back.
“We are pleased to announce that we will be playing two additional T20 matches on the tour of Pakistan in September-October 2022,” he said. After that we will be back in Australia to play Test matches after the ICC T20 World Cup. This information has been given to the Pakistan Cricket Board. On this tour, England’s men’s and women’s team will play matches at their home.
Harrison said, “I don’t think the England players would not want to play in the same conditions with the talented players of this country. We talked to the PCB, how can we take the women’s game forward in Pakistan too. We are planning these. Excited to move forward together.
PCB chairman Rameez Raja said, “The ECB has shown its big heart by coming here for which I thank Tom and Martin.” It means a lot to us. We are excited that England will play two additional T20 matches here during their tour, which will be played in September-October 2022. We will try to ensure that all visiting teams can live comfortably in Pakistan.
