Mohammad Tasleem Arif is the homegrown star of American sports
The homegrown star of this American sport is Mohammad Tasleem Arif. Tasleem is a head constable in Chhattisgarh and he is waging a war of making baseball heroes out of the children of Ganganagar and Adarsh Nagar who are cut off from the society. He is working day and night to encourage poor children. They believe that parents who work hard and labor are unable to give time to their children. Tasleem has become the messiah for these children.
Working as the messiah of poor children
Tasleem says about this – These children will be the real heroes of baseball. A life of poverty and isolation may lead him down the wrong path, but connecting him to baseball will change his life. Tasleem’s team has been receiving constant support from Lal Umesh Singh, a Superintendent of Police in Chhattisgarh. Lal Umesh Singh introduced Tasleem to the game of baseball a few years back. Lal Umesh Singh then added Taslim and baseball coach Raja Joshi to look after the young athletes and help train them further in the sport.
The team was made the winner, was welcomed like a hero
Tasleem’s interest kept increasing and he got involved in this game. Last year, the Tasleem-coached team emerged victorious in the Indore Regional of the MLB Cup 2021. The team traveled for more than 21 hours and changed 2 trains to reach the Indore regional venue to participate in the event. Tasleem remembers that the team was greeted by hundreds of people from the community after returning home victorious from the Indore region. The SP also organized a victory parade and the young players were given a grand welcome.
Winners parade was held, people welcomed like this
He told- When the team got the gold medal in MLB Cup 2021, our SP paraded those athletes sitting in the car, so that people can recognize their achievements and also see that baseball as a sport has the potential to make these athletes famous. Might give a chance. At the same time, they can also see a way out of poverty. I am very thankful to SP Sir for his continuous support. SP sir has made sure that we always have essential things like equipment, traveling allowance and practice area.
According to Tasleem, one such example is Shubham Sen, who could not make it to the top as a cricket wicket-keeper. However, Shubham changes his role as a catcher on the baseball team and gets a second chance to become a professional athlete. Tasleem explains- He has been playing exceptionally well since his change and is understanding the game fast. After being associated with baseball in Chhattisgarh for the last 4 years, Tasleem now wants to work towards furthering the potential of baseball in India.
