Death of sports journalist who came to Indore for India and Australia test, dead body found in hotel

Indore: A senior sports journalist of an English daily died in a hotel in Indore. Doctors at first sight think that he died of a heart attack. An official of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) gave this information on Tuesday. An MPCA official said that 57-year-old journalist S. Dinakar was found unconscious in a hotel room in Vijay Nagar area on Monday and was declared brought dead by doctors when he was taken to a nearby hospital.

According to the official, doctors prima facie feel that Dinakar died of heart attack. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sampat Upadhyay said that he would be able to give any statement in this matter only after getting complete information about the death of the senior sports journalist. Meanwhile, a colleague of Dinakar said that Dinakar was reporting on the third Test match played between India and Australia in Indore as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy event and he will be in Ahmedabad for the fourth and final Test starting on March 9. The colleague said that Dinakar was to leave for Ahmedabad from Indore on Tuesday morning. He told that Dinakar’s elderly father is among the bereaved family. Paying tribute to Dinakar, Sanjay Jagdale, former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, said, “Dinakar had spoken to me on Monday itself about the aggressive style of play of the cricket team of the former Holkar rulers of Indore.” Jagdale said that Dinakar was supposed to come to meet him for his interview, but later decided that he would speak to him over the phone.
