A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official told PTI on Monday, ‘Mitchell Marsh’s first RT-PCR report came negative, but his second RT-PCR report has come positive. Apart from him, the result of RT-PCR test of all other players was negative. There is no threat to the IPL match between Delhi and Punjab Kings to be held on Wednesday.
It has been learned that Marsh had shown symptoms of the disease and his rapid antigen test was done which came back positive. This could also be because he was undergoing rehabilitation under Farhart’s guidance and had mild symptoms that did not turn out to be dangerous. Salvi also had close contacts with Farhart and Marsh.
Earlier a BCCI source had said, “Delhi Capitals were to travel to Pune today, but all the team members have been asked to stay in their respective rooms as RT PCR was done to ascertain whether There is no outbreak of Covid-19 in the team or it is the only case like Patrick Farhart.
The match is likely to be held as per the schedule as other players of the team are tested negative. “All the teams are staying at the Conrad Hotel in Pune, where the BCCI has created a bio-bubble. Delhi Capitals was supposed to travel, but now it has been delayed. Obviously, those whose results will be negative in the investigation, they will go on further journey tomorrow.
The cases of Covid-19 have started increasing outside the IPL bio-bubble. The risk of virus has also increased inside the bio-bubble. Last season, the tournament had to be postponed amid the second wave of coronavirus. It was completed in the UAE in September-October.
